GLOVE CARE INSTRUCTIONS

LEATHER GLOVES

Gloves are made of leather because it is comfortable, durable, naturally water-repellent and breathable. The less water absorbed by leather, the longer it will last and the better your gloves will perform. Once wet, leather stretches and weakens, shrinks and becomes brittle as it dries. Here are a few simple suggestions to keep your leather gloves performing at their best for years to come.

CLEANING

The first step to leather glove maintenance is regular cleaning. Small particles of dirt can work their way into the leather causing abrasion and break down. After use, rinse off mud and dirt with tap water.

RE-WATERPROOF LEATHER OR ADD WATER REPELLENCY

This is important not just to keep your hands dry, but will keep gloves & mittens cleaner and maintain the leather’s suppleness for improved durability. After cleaning the gloves or mittens with water, apply NIKWAX Waterproofing Wax for Leather (included with your leather glove purchase) to the entire glove or mitten, paying special attention to the stitching and around patches or zippers (anywhere the leather has been punctured) to ensure complete protection from the elements. Re-apply as necessary or after use in severe conditions. For best results let gloves or mittens dry for 24 hours before use. For more information on Nikwax products visit Nikwax Waterproof Products

FABRIC GLOVES

CLEANING

Do you have stinky hands or do your gloves not have that new car scent anymore? We recommend spot cleaning your Celtek gloves or mittens and then hanging them out to dry. Do not bleach, iron or put your gloves or mittens in the dryer. Although we do not recommend putting your gloves in the washing machine, if you must do it, use low detergent and place them on a delicate cycle. Always hang dry your gloves or mittens. Damage caused by washing gloves is not covered by warranty.

RE-WATERPROOF FABRIC  OR ADDING WATER REPELLENCY

A durable water-repellent (DWR) finish is applied to the outermost surface of waterproof/breathable clothing and equipment during manufacture. It prevents the fabric from absorbing moisture by making water bead up and roll off. This minimises condensation forming within and maximises breathability. The DWR finish is not permanent and needs to be maintained to optimise performance, firstly by cleaning regularly with Nikwax Tech Wash, and occasionally reproofing with TX.Direct. These products are Safe for use on Gore-Tex® as well as all other Celtek fabric gloves and mittens. For more information on these Nikwax products visit Nikwax Waterproof Products
